No glaze is applied to the bottom of this matcha bowl, revealing the natural color of the clay. When the bowl is tilted to drink, the flower petal design on the underside is revealed to the guest.
Color - Hakuto 白灯 (White Lantern)
A soft, warm white inspired by the gentle glow of a small lantern. With a subtle, textured glaze that catches the light, the vessel is meant to quietly warm the heart and offer a calming, luminous presence.
The color names go beyond the colors themselves—they are inspired by the scenery, feelings, and nature of Tokushima that give life to each vessel.
Ceramic artist Emi Nakagawa studied ceramic production in Kyoto and uses the Kiyomizu-yaki tradition with clay from Shigaraki, Shiga.
