Yuji Kurihara-san giving a lecture on “Yamecha-ology ~how to prepare tea~” at Yabe Junior High School.
Here’s a photo that he shared, with a quote known among the Japanese tea industry: “Drink water when you are thirsty, drink tea when your heart/mind is thirsty” (「のどが乾けば水を飲み、心が渇けばお茶を喫む」, nodo ga kawakeba mizu wo nomi, kokoro ga kawakeba ocha wo nomu).
How would you interpret this?
My interpretation is that water will simply quench your thirst, but for your heart and mind, the whole process of preparing and drinking a warm cup of tea will help your relax.
