Yunomi.life Tea Cafe & Studio – Grand Opening in Tokyo
A New Chapter in Japanese Tea Culture
Yunomi.life KK is excited to announce the grand opening of its new Tea Cafe & Studio on October 16, 2025. The company is a Tokyo-based startup renowned for its global distribution of over 1,000 artisanal teas and tea ware on behalf of 200+ Japanese farms, factories and artisans.
After a soft launch this summer of the first floor Yunomi.Cafe, the entire 3-floor building will fully open its doors with a tea ware Yunomi.Gallery on the 2nd floor featuring matcha bowls by young Tokushima-based ceramicware artist Emi Nakagawa, and the 3rd floor Yunomi.Studio selling a thousand tea products with guided tastings (by reservation at Yunomi.life/lessons).
Please take note of the special events held during the grand opening week (details below). In addition to tasting tea made traditionally from Yunomi.life’s unmatched catalog, the cafe aims to explore the future of Japanese tea, offering innovations in tea steeping and tea-based beverages.
Yunomi.Cafe – Exploring “What Tea May Come”
Because Yunomi.life’s founder is a Hawaiian expat, the cafe features an Aloha atmosphere instead of pursuing a Japanese culture-themed experience. The cafe seeks to explore “What tea may come” — new forms of Japanese tea culture as part of the company's vision to “Integrate Japanese culture into contemporary life”. Japanese tea is slowly fading away from daily life in Japan—while coffee may be available at all restaurants, Japanese tea is not available or only available at restaurants offering Japanese cuisine (if it is offered at all).
As part of the theme of integrating tea into contemporary life, nearly all of the tea and tea wares used at the cafe will be available for purchase, and a recipe book is being developed to allow guests to recreate their cafe experience at home. For aspiring tea cafe owners, the Yunomi.Cafe offers not only inspiration but also a practical starting point—we invite guests to ask the “charistas” to experiment with our menu and create their own drink.
Signature Offerings
Signature offerings at the cafe include:
- Na Pali Matcha Latte: A matcha latte themed after the famous and heavenly west coast of Kauai Island, Hawaii, the Na Pali Matcha Latte features a layer of blue curacao syrup, milk hojicha chai, and topped with delicious matcha. Strawberry and sweet potato matcha lattes, and a variety of syrups will be available to create different types of matcha lattes.
- Rose Sencha Soda: Utilizing syrup made from the edible rose petals of the Okuizumi Rose Garden, and sencha carbonized into a soda using a Drinkmate machine, the Rose Sencha Soda is our example of new ways to enjoy traditional teas.
- Sansho Hojicha: Exploring Japanese flavors in combination with tea is another unique aspect of the cafe. Sansho hojicha featuring Japanese pepper and Shizuoka roasted green tea is an eye-opening experience for both Japanese and foreigners alike.
Gallery & Studio Tastings on 2nd and 3rd Floors
The Yunomi.life Cafe is more than just a place to enjoy tea, it’s a destination for exploration and discovery. The 2nd floor will focus on teaware, showcasing curated ceramics, utensils, and tea accessories, while the 3rd floor will serve as a tea library, a space where customers can browse an extensive selection of teas, learn about different varieties, and find their favorites to take home.

A Space for Learning and Community
Beyond its role as a cafe and store, the Yunomi.life Studio will host workshops and events focused on Japanese tea culture. These sessions aim to educate and inspire both tea enthusiasts and professionals, fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of tea.
